the {dreamy} 17- mile drive

Updated: Jan 30, 2023

When we're travelling, it's always our unplanned adventures that become our favourite, most memorable moments... probably because they represent a bit of the unknown and there's no great expectation of what is "supposed to be". These adventures are like finding gems in the sand and most of the time, they find a special place in our heart.

The 17-Mile Drive at Pebble Beach was one of those gems ~ unplanned, just a quick turn off the #1 and we were immersed in majestic greenery, landscapes and ocean as far as the eye could see. There were 21 Points of Interest to stop, walk and enjoy and we made a point of getting out to view all of them. I will never tire of views of the ocean.

Our final stop was the Lodge at Pebble Beach where we treated ourselves to a fantastic lunch and a glass of wine. We ate on the balcony overlooking the 18th green and watched the golfers come in as the clouds billowed towards us and the ocean settled into Stillwater Cove.

If you're planning a California adventure, don't hesitate to add this to your list.

There are five (5) gates to enter the 17-Mile Drive:

1) Carmel Gate - Off #1

2) Highway 1 Gate - Directly off # 1

3) S.F.B. Morse Gate - Off #68

4) Country Club Gate - Off Congress Ave in Monterey

5) Pacific Grove Gate - off #68 /Sunset Drive

There are picnic areas throughout to stop and have a bite.

There is a charge per vehicle to enter.
